Thomas Kontopos, oenologist & winemaking consultant, after 30 years of involvement in the world of wine, in 2011, together with his wife Katerina Didaskalou, biologist-brewer, founded the “wine space” Wine Therapy and simultaneously planted their first experimental vineyard with Greek grape varieties.
In 2016, the main vineyard of Wine Therapy – Kontopos was planted with Malagousia in Nea Raidestos, Thessaloniki, and they began a collaboration with the Social Cooperative of Limited Liability – Mental Health Sector of Eastern Thessaloniki & Halkidiki, IRIS, for the production of limited-edition wines from the cooperative’s organic vineyard in Portaria, Halkidiki.
This is also the year when the new generation of the Kontopos family began their involvement with Wine Therapy – Kontopos. Vasiliki-Irini, Production & Management Engineer and WSET Level 2 graduate, and oenologist Ioanna joined the team.
With a strong focus on high quality, we combine our deep knowledge and long-standing experience in wine with a fresh and innovative perspective. Our goal is to produce high-quality, limited-edition Wine Therapy wines that will captivate the modern consumer and perfectly align with new consumption trends and lifestyle choices, which favor quick meals, simpler gastronomy, and immediate satisfaction.
Our wines have received continuous recognition in international competitions, including the special distinction BEST MALAGOUZIA and the gold medal for the “Enarxis” Malagousia at the 22nd Thessaloniki International Wine Competition in 2022, as well as gold medals for Malagousia Barrique and the white Two Gether Assyrtiko – Viognier at the same competition. Additionally, the DOUBLE GOLD medal at the 10th International Balkan Wine Competition in 2021 for the “Archo” Xinomavro wine gives us strength to continue sharing our passion and love for wine with you.
