Surrounded by lush vineyards in the valley between Ziria and Gavria, the architecturally elegant Bizios Estate Winery is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology.
Located a short distance from Nemea and the mythical Stymphalia (where the wine-loving Hercules performed his first two labors), Ilias Bizios built his winery at the edge of the vineyard, capturing every day of the grape’s life in the wines he produces.
A privately-owned 100-acre vineyard extends at an altitude of 850 m in the village of Asprokampos, the highest point of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Nemea zone. The grapes are organically cultivated from low-yielding vineyards to achieve the best possible concentration of sensory characteristics for each grape variety. The harvest timing is carefully chosen to ensure optimal ripeness. The varieties grown on the estate include Agiorgitiko, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Moschofilero, and Malagousia.
Ilias Bizios, the son of a winemaker, was born and raised in Asprokampos, a mountainous village reaching 900 meters. Choosing to work with the family vineyard was almost inevitable, as his love for the land and the grape left no other option. Fermentation is closely monitored, and small-capacity stainless-steel tanks allow separate micro-vinifications by grape variety. Red wines are aged in French and American oak barrels in the underground cellar under controlled temperature and humidity conditions.
The wines of Bizios Estate are a genuine expression of the unique terroir of Asprokampos, blending tradition with modern winemaking while keeping heritage alive today. The organic vineyard, cultivated with absolute respect for the environment, is ideally reflected in the organic wines produced.
