Chrysochou Winery is located at the foothills of the legendary Mount Olympus, at the entrance of the enchanting Tempi Valley, in the area of Perataria, the old name of today’s settlement Rapsani Railway Station. Just 300 meters from the old Athens–Thessaloniki national road and diagonally across from the picturesque Rapsani Railway Station, the winery is built beside the northern bank of the Pineios River, the mythical river of Thessaly.
The winery has been operating in its current location since the late 1990s on 6 acres of privately owned land. The fourth generation of the Chrysochou family continues winemaking using modern methods while respecting tradition, keeping up with all developments in oenology.
Chrysochou Winery produces wines renowned for their quality, offering a unique tasting experience to wine lovers. The winery’s strength lies in its red wines, which are Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Rapsani, coming from vineyards in Rapsani and combining the native varieties Xinomavro, Krasato, and Stavroto. Classic red winemaking and aging in French oak barrels deliver a perfect result.
Today, a special limited-production PDO Rapsani is made from vineyards located in the heart of the Rapsani PDO zone. The unique microclimate, rich subsoil, vineyard altitude, carefully managed cultivation of local varieties, controlled low yield (approximately 800 kg per acre), and use of modern winemaking technology ensure exceptional wines that highlight all the authentic, typical characteristics of the region.
Additionally, rosé and white wines with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) are produced from the wider Thessaly region, using both local and international varieties such as Muscat, Roditis, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Merlot.
