The story of our winery begins in 2021, in the heart of Naoussa, Imathia, and represents a bold step in new entrepreneurship by two young brothers, Thanasis and Sokratis Maras. Drawing inspiration from the long-standing experience of their father, Thomas, who worked for over 25 years as an oenologist at a local winery, the Maras brothers began learning the art of oenology and viticulture from a young age.
In 2000, still children, they planted their first vineyard in the Strantza area, and their love for wine has only grown since then. Full of enthusiasm and ambition, they chose to pursue studies in different directions to enrich their knowledge: Thanasis studied Agronomy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while Sokratis studied Oenology in Drama. In this way, they combined tradition with a modern scientific approach, equipping their winery with the perfect balance between experience and innovation.
The goal of the winery is to highlight the unique terroir of Naoussa, with respect for the region’s tradition. Guided by quality and innovation, they produce a distinctive red wine from Xinomavro. Looking to the future, the same variety is also used to create a single-variety rosé and white wine, showcasing the freshness and complexity of the grape. Additionally, the inclusion of a single-variety Merlot adds an interesting dimension to their portfolio.
All wines come from the family-owned vineyards, ensuring the uniqueness and authenticity of every bottle. Careful cultivation techniques guarantee that the final product reflects the rich heritage of the region and their dedication to quality.
A milestone was reached in 2023 with the release of their first labels on the market:
P.O.P. NAOUSSA (100% Xinomavro, Red)
Le Premier Pas (100% Xinomavro, Rosé)
Blanc de Noir (100% Xinomavro, White)
Merlot (100% Merlot, Red)
With a vision of preserving tradition and creating unique flavors, the young winemakers aim to contribute to the collective effort of local wineries so that Naoussa becomes one of the most recognized wine tourism destinations, promoting its high-quality wines.
