Moropoulos Winery

The Moropoulos family has a long tradition of vine cultivation in the Mantineia region, producing quality grapes for decades. The new generation, supported by their parents, decided to take the family legacy one step further by converting the old family grain warehouse into a winemaking facility, aiming to express the character of their vineyards and their respect for the Arcadian land. It is a family-run winery; the first harvest in 2016 was experimental, and since then, the winery has continued with small-scale production. The winery is steadily growing in all aspects, with new plantings, a new facility, and a consistent expansion of both export and domestic sales strategies. Today, the winery exports to the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and recently Norway.
As you may know, Mantineia is one of the coldest wine-growing regions in Greece, despite its relatively low latitude. The cool summer temperatures delay grape ripening, helping the grapes retain their characteristic acidity, and harvesting can sometimes extend into mid-October, which is usually the latest harvest in the country.
We cultivate 120 acres of vineyards at high altitudes (680–700 m) on well-drained rocky clay and clay-loam soils, with a significant portion under organic certification. Our goal is to create small-scale vinifications for each vineyard parcel after strict selection, forming a high-quality base and evaluating its potential.
We produce three different wines based on Moschofilero: a P.D.O. Mantineia, a blend of selected grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks, a rosé version of this multidimensional variety made after extended skin contact, and a late-harvest Moschofilero called November.
Recently, we launched a late-release edition of the classic P.D.O. Mantineia, three vintages older than the current one, and we are experimenting with a sparkling version and a vintage expression from a single-variety vineyard! Our wines have also received recognition and high scores in international competitions such as Decanter, Texsom, and Concours Mondial Bruxelles.
We maintain a fruitful collaboration with a promising young oenologist, Lefteris Anagnostou, experimenting extensively both in the vineyard and the winery to give a new expression to one of Greece’s most popular varieties. This effort embodies the definition of a Greek boutique winery: our family cultivates its own land, produces on a small scale, and dedicates itself entirely to a single variety in its native region.
