A 35-acre vineyard in Arma, Boeotia is the place where the organically cultivated wine Armathos was born.
Our profound respect for Nature, our sincere love for wine, our spontaneity, and our tireless efforts converged to create organic wines of quality and integrity.
We want Armathos Winery to be both a journey and a destination—one of flavor and emotion.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
GEORGIOS LOULIS
A wine that travels far and brings people closer together. That is the wine I envisioned.
Our estate lies in Arma, Boeotia—a blessed land.
As an engineer by profession, searching for space to expand my construction businesses, I left Athens and found myself in this village of Boeotia, where I discovered an entirely new world that disarmed me. It awakened emotions in me; it moved me deeply.
And so, in the year 2000, my passion for working with nature brought a new love into my life: cultivating the land. More specifically, I planted a 17-acre vineyard around my workplace and home.
At first, I cultivated the red French variety Merlot, having been captivated by its taste for years. Then came winemaking—done, I would say, with emotion. I was not seeking financial profit, but personal fulfillment.
Influenced by the Garagistes movement, born in France in the 1980s and centered on producing small quantities of wine with the least possible equipment—hence the term “garage wines”—I proceeded to make experimental wines in the courtyard of my home.
As time passed, I saw that my hobby was building a new world—one I had never dared imagine: my wines, the product of my humble love for water and soil.
Nearly two decades later, my winery in Arma, Boeotia—now bearing my name—produces rosé, fresh red, and aging red wines, all cultivated and vinified organically.
Armathos is my philosophy of life.
It is my way of telling life that I love it—and will honor it.
