Papargyriou Estate was founded in 1978 by the agronomist Aristides Papargyriou and is located in Corinth, about 10 kilometers from Kiato. It has two vineyards, in Laliotis (where the winery is located) and in Sofiana, at an altitude of 900 meters. About 12 hectares are cultivated with the varieties Moschoudi (Muscat of Rio Patras), Assyrtiko, Mavrodaphne, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Agiorgitiko and Mavrostifo.
The annual production today is 50,000 bottles, with the prospect of rising to 80-90,000. The wines are exported to the US, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark and Austria.
Aristides’ son Yannis Papargyriou, also an agronomist and Agricultural University of Athens graduate, is in charge of the winery, while the third generation is preparing to enter the family business in a few years.
