Kikones is the first winery established in the Rhodope region and began its operation in 2004 by Melina Tassou – Agronomist & Oenologist D.N.O. Bordeaux.
The oenologist’s philosophy is based on minimal intervention and the use of traditional techniques, aiming for the most natural wine result. Key machinery has been replaced by human hands during the winemaking process, while the most important decisions are made with the valuable assistance of daily taste testing, even during fermentation.
The scientific quality control techniques are based on the Bordeaux School, the vineyard is inspired by the Australian training system, traditional winemaking comes from Burgundy, and the combination of all these techniques produces the unique result known as Thracian winemaking.
